The Hifazat Theatre Workshop Programme, launched by UNFPA Pakistan in collaboration with the School of Leadership Foundation (SoLF), empowered youth in South Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to address reproductive health rights, gender equality, and social norms through storytelling and community theatre. The initiative trained 30 young participants from Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) and the University of Peshawar in a three-day immersive workshop, equipping them with the skills to transform personal experiences into powerful theatre performances. With expert guidance from Theatre Wallay, participants staged six live performances—four in Multan and two in Peshawar—engaging 345 community members in thought-provoking discussions. By fostering grassroots dialogue and amplifying youth voices, the initiative challenged societal barriers and encouraged collective action on critical social issues.

The primary objectives of the programme were as follows:

  • Utilize theatre as a tool to raise awareness about reproductive health, gender-based violence, and social norms.
  • Equip youth with storytelling and performance skills to effectively engage communities in meaningful discussions.
  • Promote grassroots advocacy by enabling young people to lead community theatre performances that spark dialogue and social change.
