Access & Quality Education

Quality education is the key to a better life on micro level, and a strong economy on macro. To us, education is not merely about studying and getting good grades in school, it’s a tool used for discovering new things, opening yourself to new possibilities, increasing knowledge and being able to differentiate between right and wrong.

A person’s earnings can increase by 10 per cent after completion of each school year. Increasing just 10 per cent of higher education in a country can add a significant percentage of growth to GDP.

Additionally, girls are especially at a disadvantage due to low access to quality education, even though it’s a well established fact that when girls are educated, they have healthier families, fewer children, more income generating opportunities, and a greater probability of their children getting quality education as well.

Our goal is to reverse these trends by focusing not only on learning and school access, but also through other strategies such as:
  • Helping educational institutes create an environment where students enjoy learning, love discovering and have the confidence to grow while instilling in them a sense of responsibility and ownership.
  • Helping graduates prepare for life, so they they receive from their educational institutes.
  • Develop independent communicators who thrive at collaborating, innovating and critical thinking.
  • Placing a strong emphasis on citizenship education and building character by providing leadership services and life skills essential in this day and age.
  • Providing vibrant arts programmes to develop students’ creativity, individuality and expressiveness.

As a result of our efforts:
  1. We aim to increase access & quality in education and develop skills and competencies these children require to excel in work as studies suggest that over one in three young people in Pakistan have not completed primary school and do not have the basic skills they need for work.
  2. Through ILMPossible – Take a Child to School programme, we have helped enroll 135,000 out of school children between ages 5 and 9 over the course of three years.
  3. We have helped retain 80 per cent of these out of school children till primary level through DOSTI training in 25 districts countrywide targeting 208 public schools.
